Laboratory of Electrical Machines
In the Laboratory we studie the principles and the system theory of electrical machines. The theoretical investigations consist of mathematical models for electrical machines, studies of static and transient behaviour of special electrical machines and the application of different numerical methods (finite elements, finite differences, current sheet, substitutive currents) to optimise the magnetic and electrical fields in electrical machines.
Laboratory investigations are oriented towards measurement procedures and methods of electrical machines testing. The laboratory researches are performed in close cooperation with the Slovenian electrical industry. Current activities include investigations of power transformers, power inductors and design of a special miniature multiphase high-speed motor for dental drills. In the field of special machines, we are trying to find solutions for tasks where conventional electrical machines do not meet the requirements. Our work covers development, optimisation and testing of high-speed and high-torque motors, high-speed linear actuators, special inductors, etc. A powerful computer software for modelling and simulation enables simple and fast analysis of almost all electromagnetic devices.
