Laboratory for Robotics

Laboratory for Robotics

The laboratory has a long tradition of cultivating both high-quality research in the fields of robotics and biomedical engineering as well as transfer of products into the industrial and rehabilitation environments. Recently, the main research activities have been in the fields of interaction between the robot and its environment, the development and use of haptic interfaces, measurements in robot applications and the use of virtual reality in robotics. The laboratory’s researchers are involved in several domestic industrial and international research projects. Their work is frequently published in peer-reviewed international journals.

International activities include projects funded by the EU, RTD STREP projects within FP4 - FP7 (SENSATIONS, GENTLE/S, I-Match, ALLADIN, MIMICS, EVRYON, CARETOY, CYBERLEGS) and bilateral cooperation with 18 countries. The laboratory is a member of the EURON network (The European Robotics Research Network). Laboratory of Robotics also collaborates with various partners from industry, covering the field of robotics in Slovenia (Yaskawa Slovenia, Slovenia ABB, DAX, FDS Research), as well as with industrial partners in other fields (Trimo, LPKF, ETA Cerkno, Iskra Avtoelektrika). Laboratory of Robotics has in year 2010 received prestigious 3. award of EURON / EUnited Robotics Technology Transfer Award for transfer of knowledge into industry.

The laboratory is conveying the knowledge and experience to the undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to different industrial partners. Collaboration with the University Rehabilitation Institute of Republic of Slovenia and with robotic research department of the Jožef Stefan Institute is well-established and has a history of several decades.
