Laboratory of Control Engineering and Power Electronics

Power Electronics:

Topics included in this research area are: static power converters, process current sources, impulse magnetisers and permanent magnet calibrating systems. The main interest of recent work was essentially on pulse converters with sinusoidal output voltage and current.

Microprocessor Control:

Development and testing of 8-, 16- and 32-bit microprocessor systems for process control, mostly in applications that include power electronics. A special concern is dedicated to the control of electrical drives. An example of the recent work is a 32-bit microcontroller board for induction machine control. It was designed for sensorless control and parameter identification testing.

Programmable Controllers:

The activity in this field is meant mainly for educational purposes, such as for courses in the 3rd and 4th year of undergraduate studies. Also, technicians from various industrial branches are trained in order to enhance their knowledge in PLCs (about 900 in the last ten years).
