Subject description
Prerequisits:
- Enrollment in the study year.
Content (Syllabus outline):
- Types of signals, quantization, sampling and encoding. Frequency analysis and digital filtering.
- Properties of sound, sound propagation and perception of sound by humans. Sound filtering and sound effects.
- Properties of digital images, colour spaces, perception of images. Image quality, image filtering, noise reduction, image restoration and analysis.
- Video signals, video formats, and video processing techniques
- Practical manipulation and editing of digital sound, images and video.
Objectives and competences:
The main goal is to demonstrate basic digital signal processing techniques and their application to sound, image and video signals. By using appropriate software the student is able to perform typical image and video processing and editing tasks.
Intended learning outcomes:
- Knowledge of digital signal processing methods and their application to sound and visual signals.
- Understanding and knowledge of the selected software tools for image, sound and video editing.
