Higher education teachers: Policardi Franco
Študijski program od študijskega leta 2014/15

Subject description

Prerequisits:

  • Enrollment in the study year.

Content (Syllabus outline):

Introduction to room acoustics: the sound sources concept, the sound propagation concept and methods to obtain acoustic parameters. Introduction to psycoacoustics: the ear-brain system concept, sound spatial perception, the sound simulations concept, acoustical parameters use. Electroacoustic media, devices and systems: historical and technological review, acoustic masking, signal processing for auralization, sound simulation in virtual and real spaces, 3D sound reproduction and virtual reality systems. Electroacoustic services, interactive use of acoustic parameters for live events, acoustic parameters displaying devices.

Objectives and competences:

Human auditory system understanding and current technology level development applied in media and communications fields. Student is able to select appropriate acoustic and electroacoustic technologies and equipment for interactive multimedia services development as well as for live sound recording and reinforcement.

Intended learning outcomes:

  • Acoustic technology, systems and devices knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge in the field of room and psychoacoustics.
  • Auditory system technical terms management, with emphasis on electro-multimedia services use.
  • Understanding of acoustic devices for multimedia sound capturing, processing and presentation.

Learning and teaching methods:

Lectures, demonstrations, practical laboratory work.
