Subject description

Prerequisits:

  • Enrollment in the study year.

Content (Syllabus outline):

Basic concepts related to communications. Information society and information sources. The use of information resources and information and communication services in education. Career planning (identifying interests, abilities and goals, evaluation of career options, learn about the scope of work and opportunities to gain experience, competitive advantage). Searching of study resources (efficient use of Internet search engines, libraries, databases ...), their critical evaluation and proper citation and summarizing (media literacy). Effective learning (techniques and skills), use of information technologies in distance learning, functional literacy, reading diagonally. Communication skills (written, electronic, verbal), public speaking and rhetoric skills of dialogue, listening, persuasion and negotiation, goal communication, conflict resolution. Project and team work (modeling, role in the team, coordination, motivation of groups and leading). Presentation of results. Basics of business etiquette. Using multimedia tools in interactive collaboration and innovation environments.

Objectives and competences:

The course gives basic knowledge of information society tools needed for future multimedia professionals. The core subject matter is the theoretical basis which relates to the practical knowledge of projects and real business environments. The content of the course represents a completed integrity, but offers the motivation for more technical courses in further levels of the study.

Concepts of information society, information resources, teaching methods, and networking and teamwork.
