Higher education teachers: Papič Igor
Subject description
Prerequisits:
Understanding of basic principles of power system operation.
Content (Syllabus outline):
- Consequences of growing environmental concern, general lack of energy resources in western Europe, availability of new technologies for production of electrical energy, penetration of distributed energy resources – DER in distribution networks.
- Gradual transition of classical passive distribution network into an active network with resources on the consumption side, specification of the concept of an active distribution network. Overview of distributed energy resources, interconnection requirements and assessment of potential in Slovenia. The influence of distributed energy resources on the operation of a distribution network: voltage profile, power flows, reactive power, power quality, protection, control, maintenance and planning.
- Key technologies enabling the operation of an active distribution network: energy resources with control capabilities, energy storage systems, modern compensation devices, advanced information and communication technologies.
