The common thread of the study of Electrical Power Engineering is the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in electrical power systems through networks all the way to end users. Students acquire knowledge on power system functioning, protection and control, but also on power quality and high voltage. Since the study follows both the development of the electricity branch and the development of power engineering in other branches of the economy, the learning content also includes new technology development related to conventional energy sources such as hydro, thermal and nuclear power plants, and the development of renewable sources of energy with an emphasis on solar and wind energy. The study of Electrical Power Engineering also covers electricity trading and economics.
